Little Keynotes Piano Classes
Ages 4-5 years
Group Piano Lessons in Richmond, Virginia
Piano Adventures Await!
Little Keynotes beginning piano classes for 4 and 5 year olds has an all-inclusive approach to musical instruction for older preschoolers and Kindergarteners. Together with their class friends, a strong musical foundation is developed through singing, finger plays, games and movement, imaginative play, listening, and of course, playing songs on the piano.
So how does group piano work for this age? In Little Keynotes (and all our piano classes) each child plays on a separate piano keyboard, meaning they can explore the full range of keys without “running into” a friend. The small teacher-student ratio provides time for the instructor to help each child on-on-one as well as guide the group as a whole. While learning “away from the bench” children engage with friends in whole-group learning activities that reinforce music and piano skills. Our innovative strategies for differentiation and cyclical learning structures mean that whilst our students learn and play together, they are able to further challenge themselves when needed. This means that no learner is left behind nor held back. We cover every learning style through our delivery and ensure that every learner thrives.
Do we have to have a piano at home? While an instrument and home practice is not required, home exploration is encouraged and can be done without a piano! Each student will receive a workbook to keep at home, and each page has at-home activities that can be enjoyed after learning the song in class. Families are also given access to online videos that demonstrate hand placement and allow children to watch, listen, sing, and play along!
